Pot Grower Calls Cops
On Self

On May 11, 2002 at about 9am Mendocino County Deputies were dispatched to Pine Avenue, Potter Valley, regarding an assault.

Upon arrival deputies contacted Damon Jenkins, 44, of Potter Valley, who reported that he and Glenn Mason, 55, also of Potter Valley, had got into an argument which escalated into a fight over a water tank. During the investigation Jenkins admitted that he was growing marijuana on his property. Jenkins then lead deputies to the location where he was growing the marijuana at which time they located 400 plants. The plants measured from one foot tall to seedlings. Deputies also located two pounds of processed marijuana on the property. Noting that Jenkins had 375 more plants than allowed, he was arrested for cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.

Deputies then contacted Glenn Mason at his residence. Mason admitted to the deputies that he was growing marijuana as well at which time he directed the deputies to his grow location. Mason claimed that he had a doctor's recommendation for growing marijuana and that he also was a caregiver. Deputies located 248 marijuana plants and four pounds of processed marijuana. (This amount is 198 plants more than what is allowed.) Also located at the residence was usable amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine. Glenn Mason was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession for sale and possession of a controlled substance.

Both Damon Jenkins and Glenn Mason were transported to the Mendocino County Jail where they were booked on marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $25,000 each.
