Biochar and Conservation Burn Training in Ukiah - April 11th

The Sonoma Biochar Initiative and Sonoma Ecology Center, in cooperation with the  Mendocino County Woody Biomass Working Group and the Redwood Forest Foundation,  are pleased to announce a Biochar workshop and Conservation Burn training to be  held on Friday April 11th at the Ukiah Conference Center and Ingel-Haven Ranch in Potter Valley.

The morning workshop (8 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.), held at the Ukiah Conference Center, will focus on biochar, including why it works to improve soil, the benefits of using it in both animal and plant agriculture, how to properly condition it prior to use, and how to apply it. ***The afternoon training (1 P.M. to 5 P.M. ), held at Ingel-Haven Ranch (also known as Magruder Ranch) in Potter Valley, will focus on the conservation agricultural  burn technique, and include hands-on field training as well as the scientific theory behind the process, safety and permitting considerations, pile construction, burn management, and maximizing production of biochar.  Each session costs $35, or $60 for both.
