Piano Concert

Pianist Huiping (Who-Ping) Cai makes her California debut on Sunday, March 19 at 3 PM in Preston Hall, Mendocino. Presented by FBCA Coast Chamber Performances, this young, talented pianist from China agreed to substitute for the previous announced pianist, Ching-Yun Hu. The nineteen-year old is one of the most exciting young talents coming from China today. Her performances have been highly praised for their lyricism, and musicality.

She made her orchestral soloist debut at the age of 16 with Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra and went on to perform with Kazakhstan National Symphony Orchestra. She has represented the China National Culture Committee in numerous cultural exchange concerts in Russia and Kazakhstan.

Ms. Cai has already won many competitions, and was selected to represent China in performances in Moscow and elsewhere in Europe. She made her U.S. debut last year at the festival at Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

Huiping will perform works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel. Advance tickets ($22) are available at Harvest market and Out of This World, tickets at the door are $25. For more information call 937-1018.
