Hexenhammer on Syrian Tomahawk Strikes

  1. BB Grace April 7, 2017

To be fair Dr. Z, when Styx was making this vid further developments were being revealed so I expect him to make more vids to fill in those gaps.

for one, Russia is moving it’s embassy with Israel to Jerusalem. US is following the Saudi plan with support from Egypt and Jordan on Syria.

    THANK YOU

    • BB Grace April 7, 2017

And another new vid!: “Why Do So Many People Mistake Me For A Conservative?”
      BBingo!

    • chuck becker April 7, 2017

That’s just stupid. At 2:30, this person asks why we should retaliate against a regime that (he asseerts) didn’t deploy them (chemical weaponsa) in the first place?

Here is why: if you own a bazooka, you are responsdible for keeping it secure. If you are known to own a bazooka, and someone blows up a crowd using your bazooka, you have no escape from your own culpability in that mass murder.

And that is the weakest rationalization. Every other possible position even more strongly supports striking Asad’s base(s) of operations.

      • BB Grace April 8, 2017

That’s why I posted to Dr. Z: “To be fair, events are breaking as he was making the vid.” Obama claimed ALL chemical weapons in Syria were destroyed in 2013. (who owns the bazooka then?)

        Syrian Chemical Weapons Destruction:
        https://www.armscontrol.org/…/Syrian-Chemical-Weapons-Destruction-Taking-Stock-…

Dec 4, 2014 – All declared chemical weapons stockpiles until 2013 had been destroyed within the possessor country, usually very close to the existing ………………

One of Styx (and mine) long time sources is SyrianGirl who has been reporting from inside (and outside when she has been purged/ refuged) since before Syrian rebels began righteously protesting Assad’s lethal offense against his protesters.

        • chuck becker April 13, 2017

Oh, boy, for all its entertainment value, I hate to perpetuate this thread, but, worth noting: “…All declared chemical weapons…”

The first thing I noticed was the “declared” in there.

Of course, I’m either (brainwashed or paid) by Israel, so in a land where ad hominems are considered to be equivalent to actual logic, it doesn’t matter.

Syria has been a target of the lunatics that run this country since 2001:

—I knew why, because I had been through the Pentagon right after 9/11. About ten days after 9/11, I went through the Pentagon and I saw Secretary Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz. I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He said, “Sir, you’ve got to come in and talk to me a second.” I said, “Well, you’re too busy.” He said, “No, no.” He says, “We’ve made the decision we’re going to war with Iraq.” This was on or about the 20th of September. I said, “We’re going to war with Iraq? Why?” He said, “I don’t know.” He said, “I guess they don’t know what else to do.” So I said, “Well, did they find some information connecting Saddam to al-Qaeda?” He said, “No, no.” He says, “There’s nothing new that way. They just made the decision to go to war with Iraq.” He said, “I guess it’s like we don’t know what to do about terrorists, but we’ve got a good military and we can take down governments.” And he said, “I guess if the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail.”

So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” And he said, “Oh, it’s worse than that.” He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, “I just got this down from upstairs” — meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office — “today.” And he said, “This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.” I said, “Is it classified?” He said, “Yes, sir.” I said, “Well, don’t show it to me.” And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, “You remember that?” He said, “Sir, I didn’t show you that memo! I didn’t show it to you!”

And what is Turkey’s part in all this?

Erdogan is looking for a referendum next week to make him sultan for life. Remember the trail of oil from Isis-captured oil fields to Turkey? The gas attacks earlier attributed to Assad that later proved to be Turkey? The hated Kurds fighting Isis in North Eastern Syria…Don’t forget that Erdogan jailed all the journalists after the ‘coup’ attempt.

Then there’s Saudi Arabia’s involvement (and ours) supporting the ‘moderates’ Al Nusra/Al Qaeda…yeah, and then there’s Israel. Hmmm.

So many moving parts. Enough to make one’s head explode–no Tomahawks needed!

      • LouisBedrock April 8, 2017

        Fair Lily of Sohum:

The U.S. is the dominant player.
It’s global strategy appears to be the destruction of nations and national governments and their reduction into “territories” to facilitate the theft of important resources like oil. Apparently, it’s cheaper to deal with warlords.

Despite the myth of Israel manipulating the United States, it is just another tool for implementing American foreign policy.

And American foreign policy is primarily theft of natural resources and exploitation of foreign peoples.

    • james marmon April 8, 2017

Wes Clark is a lunatic, pushes the Climate Change narrative for personal profit. He is also the father of this guy who f**ked over several thousand vets at Standing Rock.

“Wes Clark Leaves Vets Out in the Cold. Where Did the Money Go?”

      http://www.iamnetizen.org/2016/12/07/wes-clark-leaves-vets-cold-money-go/

I also think he’s the second cousin (or something like that) of our very own Jim Updegraff. I remember Jim mentioning that during the Standing Rock fiasco.

      • james marmon April 8, 2017

Clark is heavily invested in corn ethanol, hates oil.

“In an appearance on E&E TV, retired General Wesley Clark discusses the future of corn ethanol policy. Transcript here. Given that he is a member of Growth Energy, completely objectivity isn’t expected. However, he makes a number of incorrect statements and supports very poor economic analysis.”

        http://www.globalwarming.org/2011/05/03/wesley-clark-on-ethanol/

        • james marmon April 8, 2017

“The demand for corn ethanol is not market driven. It’s government mandated”

        • BB Grace April 8, 2017

Furthermore, Clark was the CEO of a corporation (General) that produced magnetic wheels for stealth military transportation; IOWs, he’s a war profiteer.

    • Harvey Reading April 13, 2017

Louis, sadly, it aint just the lunatics who run the place. It’s the lunatics who buy their line and blindly support them. Probably something to do with testosterone levels and the effect they have on the native authoritarianism and narcissism of Homo stupidus.

  4. zack anderson April 7, 2017

I suppose an Ex-Satanist is better than a current one, though no disrespect to the many wonderful wiccans I’ve met at the AVA compound over the years.

P.S. If one likes smooth frilly things, does that make one a Satinist?

    • sohumlily April 7, 2017

Not sure, Zack, but I don’t believe wiccans worship Satan.

And hey, this guy thinks the wall is great, that ending taxes for the rich a good idea and gutting federal agencies is great stuff.

I’m not saying he’s all wrong–those who voted for Trump were thinkin’ that with him there was a 90% chance he wouldn’t start WWIII, whereas Hil was 100%.

  5. zack anderson April 7, 2017

Point taken. Admittedly I’m not well versed in the dark arts. I disagree with much of what Hexenhammer says, but I like his candor, eloquence and overall ridiculous vibe. I mean, who wears a leather jacket without a shirt while flying what looks like an imperial Roman flag in the background? And he makes cat videos.

    • sohumlily April 7, 2017

I guess he’s found his niche.:)

  6. Zack Anderson Post author | April 7, 2017

Speaking of imperial recesses, thanks to Wikipedia I just learned that:
“Nero’s Domus Aurea (AD 64–69) was the first semi-private dwelling that possessed rooms that were given richly varied floor plans, shaped with niches and exedras; sheathed in dazzling polished white marble, such curved surfaces concentrated or dispersed the daylight.”

The Hexenhammer works in mysterious ways!

    • LouisBedrock April 8, 2017

      Pat,

      I respectfully disagree.

      1. Israel is not an enemy to the real rulers of the United States: it is an important instrument for carrying out American foreign policy—especially in the Middle East.

      2. Israel enjoys the support of Christian Zionists—a formidable block. Ghada Karmi estimated there were more than thirty million American Christian Zionists in 2005—and about one third of the U.S. Congress.

Christian Zionists believe the movement of all Jews to Israel and their conversion to Christianity is a prerequisite for the return of Jesus Christ:

“The most compelling points of Christian Zionism are that Israel is of prime importance, that the Jews will eventually convert to Christianity, and that the future of the world permits no middle positions allowing compromise. There can be no half-way measures and those who advocate compromise are siding with the enemy. …

The common theme includes the emergence of the anti-Christ, the rise of Israel, the return of Christ, Armageddon, the victory of good over evil, the rebuilding of the Temple and the coming of an era of peace and justice.”

      http://www.unc.edu/depts/diplomat/archives_roll/2004_04-06/dale_impact/dale_impact.html

      • Pat Kittle April 9, 2017

        Louis,

        I respectfully disagree.

        Christian Zionists do Israel’s bidding.

Israel does NOT do Christian Zionists’ bidding.

I’m guessing you realize this. Let me know if you don’t.

        • LouisBedrock April 10, 2017

          I agree.
But it does serve as an instrument for American foreign policy.

          • Pat Kittle April 10, 2017

            Obviously.

But let’s be clear on who’s calling the shots.

  7. Jim Updegraff April 8, 2017

It is just a matter of time until Hezbollah and Iranian troops launch an all out attack on Israel.

    • Pat Kittle April 9, 2017

      Jim:
Your “hasbara” propaganda is easily debunked, despite the ever-greater censorship imposed on debunkers.

Incidentally, the evidence that Israel did 9-11 is truly overwhelming:
      — [ https://wikispooks.com/wiki/9-11/Israel_did_it ]

      • BB Grace April 9, 2017

The roots of the Hasbara phobia is misogyny and misoheby. There was nothing Hasbara about what Mr. Updegraff wrote.

        • Pat Kittle April 10, 2017

You clearly know about Israeli “hasbara” trolls:
          — [ https://www.google.com/search?q=hasbara+trolls&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 ]

But (whether intentionally or not) you shed no light on the problem.

“Hasbara phobia”? Is that phobia of hasbara or phobia by hasbara? What does misogyny have to do with it? And what is “misoheby”? It’s not in any dictionary I searched, and it doesn’t seem to be a typo.

I have experience dealing with & recognizing hasbara behavior. A favorite hasbara tactic involves posting diversionary gibberish sprinkled with just enough relevancy to leave an unwary reader confused.

  8. Jim Updegraff April 8, 2017

Please be kind to Wesley clark – his mother was an Updegraff.

    • LouisBedrock April 10, 2017

      Jim,

Despite the ad hominem attacks, no one has refuted what he says. And events seem to support what he says.

I hope you’re wrong about Hezbollah and Iran. There’s enough destruction and bloodshed in the world already. I’m sick of it.

  9. Jim Updegraff April 10, 2017

Unfortunately, I’m not wrong about Hezbollah and Iran attacking Israel. There have 120,000+ missiles ready for launch and various equipment from Russia such as anti-air missiles and and anti-ship missiles.

    • Pat Kittle April 10, 2017

Iran & Russia have been acting with incredible patience in the face of countless acts of war perpetrated by Israel’s war criminals.

Israeli war criminals won’t be content until (like other Mideastern countries on their hit list) they’ve reduced Iran to a failed state.

Listen to this creepy coward (& his chuckling Israel lobby audience) as he calls for yet another Israeli false-flag war crime:
      — [ https://www.juancole.com/2012/10/israel-lobbyist-suggests-false-flag-attack-to-start-war-with-iran.html ]

Yeah, we gotta suck the US into another war for Israel, don’t we. Too bad most Americans never see this:

i love good bagels, though most of the West Coast versions are mockeries of a sham. (Something to do with the water and atmospheric pressure, which affects the rising of the yeast, or so I’ve been told.) Barton’s Bagels in San Anselmo are the best I’ve found in these otherwise barren deserts. In NYC, my faves are Pick-A-Bagel and Ess-A-Bagel.

              • LouisBedrock April 11, 2017

                Wrong country, Zack.

“A bagel (Yiddish: בײגל‎ beygl; Polish: bajgiel), also spelled beigel, is a bread product originating in the Jewish communities of Poland. It is traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, that is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked.”

(Forgive me Athena for quoting Wikipedia!)

          • LouisBedrock April 11, 2017

            Patrick,

There are more appalling places than Israel.

Saudi Arabia still sells women on the auction block and murders anyone who questions Allah, Mohammed, or any aspect of Islam–a vile religion.

Pakistan sucks. Would not want to be an atheist there. Or in parts of India for that matter.

El Salvador throws women in prison for life for having abortions.

Murder is the national sport in Guatemala.

Israel is an oppressive theocracy. It’s an instrument of imperial aggression. It’s disappointing to see a people who suffered so much inflict so much suffering on others. The people running the place are nuts.

But the other places I’ve mentioned are worse.

            PNAC criminals did 911.

            Give it a rest.

You’re intelligent—I’d like to hear your opinions about other things.

  10. Zack Anderson Post author | April 11, 2017

yes, louis, i knew that. but instead of complaining about the darkness all the times, it’s nice to try lighting a menorrah once in a while.

but do you know who invented the vegan and gluten free dish, Yam Kippur?

    • BB Grace April 11, 2017

One of the five souls in the Book of Life invented the vegan dish Yam Kippur.

I appreciate the lighter side. THANK YOU Dr. Z.

It’s a shame the subject of Israel is so negative because it’s amazing what’s going on in so many levels for example, medical marijuana (because this is a common topic on AVA).

I look at what Israel is doing and I seriously wonder, “What are we doing?” Why is Israel’s medical marijuana light years ahead of us?

      https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/2017-04-11/israel-is-a-global-leader-in-marijuana-research

      Shalom!

  11. LouisBedrock April 11, 2017

As Martin Luther King observed, “It’s better to light a menorah than curse the bagel.”

    • sohumlily April 11, 2017

I don’t see Islam as being any more or less repugnant than any other of the main monotheistic religions…Judaism, Christianity, and Islam followers are all ‘people of the book’. All have done heinous crimes in the name of their ‘religion’.

      I love bagels…are there any gluten-free ones?

And f*** Israel. The whole premise of Zionism is just messed up. Hey, I want to take over the lands my ancestors used to live on! Tribes/cultures are constantly migrating and subsuming one another; why are the Jews so special…o I know, something about the ‘chosen people’. Hogwash.

  12. LouisBedrock April 12, 2017

Yes, fuck Israel. And fuck the Vatican. And fuck Mecca and fuck all of Saudi Arabia.

    Reminds me of a joke:

A man is visiting a badly injured friend in the hospital. The friend has one leg and one arm in casts and is heavily bandaged.

—What the hell happened to you? asked the visitor.

—Well, I was visiting Mecca in Saudi Arabia. We were escorted by a tour guide.

I was getting tired of seeing mosques, the Kaaba, people praying all day, and listening to the guide’s interminable praise of her beautiful, perfect religion, Islam.

Finally, I couldn’t stand it anymore; I shouted, “Fuck Allah, Islam, and the Prophet Mohammed.”

—Jesusfuckingchrist! You’re lucky you weren’t lynched! What happened next?

—Some bearded guy in a keffiyeh shouted out, “Fuck Jehovah, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary!

—So the two of you got into a fight?

—No. We were standing in the middle of the street shaking hands when a truck hit us.

    • Harvey Reading April 13, 2017

As I’ve pointed out (AND no one has refuted!), Israel & its lobby are responsible for nothing less than unending global catastrophe, including…
    1) all these criminal Mideastern wars for Israel that Western countries are sucked into, reducing the designated Muslim countries to failed states…
    2) the “refugee crisis” in which Western countries are being overwhelmed & destroyed by understandably furious high-fertility Muslims (of which Precious Little Israel won’t accept any!), and…
    3) increasingly Orwellian levels of censorship, as Israel lobby shysters like the ADL & SPLC designate any opposition as “hate speech.”

    It bears repeating:

“Israel Lobby Calls for an ‘Iranian Pearl Harbor’”:
    — [ http://original.antiwar.com/muhammad-sahimi/2012/10/29/israel-lobby-calls-for-an-iranian-pearl-harbor/ ]

The evidence that Israel did 9-11 is truly overwhelming:
    — [ https://wikispooks.com/wiki/9-11/Israel_did_it ]

These astonishing on-going war crimes call for a more serious & sustained response than “Fuck Israel” & lame jokes about bagels & truck accidents.

      • BB Grace April 13, 2017

The Israeli Ambassador at the U.N. began, “Ladies and gentlemen before I commence with my speech, I want to relay an old Passover story.

“When Moses was leading the Jews out of Egypt toward the Promised Land, he had to go through the nearly endless Sinai desert.

“When they reached the Promised Land, the people had become very thirsty and needed water. So Moses struck the side of a mountain with his staff and a pond appeared with crystal clean, cool water. The people rejoiced and drank to their hearts’ content.

“Moses put down his staff and went to a solitary corner of the pond to drink, and meditate in prayer. But once Moses returned, he found that his staff had been stolen.

“I have reason to believe ladies and gentlemen that the Palestinians stole the staff of our great Prophet Moses.'”

The Palestinian delegate to the UN, hearing this accusation, jumps from his seat and screams out, “This is a travesty. It is widely known that there were no such thing as ‘Palestinians’ at that time!”

“And with that in mind,” said the Israeli Ambassador, “let me now begin my speech.”

  14. Pat Kittle April 13, 2017

A former editor of a small Northern California weekly has a fascinating 1st-hand account of the Mideast:

“Like most Americans, I originally knew little about Israel-Palestine. In fall 2000 I was the editor of a small weekly newspaper in Sausalito, California. When the current Palestinian uprising began at the end of September, I became curious about this issue and began to follow the news reports closely. When I did that, I quickly noticed that, journalistically, the reports were highly Israeli-centric. Since I wanted full information I began to look for additional reports on the Internet.

“After several months of following the situation closely — daily learning of civilians and young people being ruthlessly killed and injured — and seeing that very little of this was being reported by NPR, the San Francisco Chronicle, etc. it began to seem to me that this was perhaps the most covered-up story I had ever seen. I finally decided to go over the see the situation for myself. I quit my job and traveled to the West Bank and Gaza as a freelance reporter.”

    …CONTINUED:

Without the support of the U.S. Department of State, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, three rotten deranged theocracies, would be overthrown by their own peoples. It would be wonderful to see Jewish settlers guillotined, Saudi Princes beheaded, and the Pakistani generals shot.

However, so long as these Hellholes serve American imperial foreign policy, the U.S. will continue to support them with guns and money.

            Thanks.

BTW, when Jeff Bezos founded Amazon (~1998) he professed his dedication to free inquiry, and resisted intense Israel lobby pressure to comply with its censorship demands. However, in the last month or two Bezos caved in & banned many meticulously documented books on Israel’s hit list. We can be sure Weir is also on that list, so who knows if she’ll be next to go.

Amazon also recently banned me from commenting — and censored most of the comments I previously posted, going back years. I stay well within the “rules” when I post comments (my comments here are typical) — no spam, threats, lies, obscenities, or slurs from me, and I ALWAYS use my real first & last name online.

Interesting revision you have of the “Greater Israel” map.
            :-)
But we don’t have to limit it to Brooklyn & Crown Heights — we could arguably include the entire US.

      • chuck becker April 13, 2017

Yeah, so I went to ifamericaknew.org and what I found was a cubic crapload of poorly constructed propaganda. One example from that site:

“The U.S. provides Israel $9.8 million* in military aid each day, while it gives the Palestinians $0** in military aid.”

Wow, that sounds like we Americans are pawns of Israel, right? I mean, it does, doesn’t it? How could we be so blind?

We could be so blind because we Americans choose to make ourselves blind, to suit our baser instincts, without the intrusion of facts and logic. Here is the other side, UNREPORTED by ifamericaknew.org:

“The United States provided $6.5 billion in military assistance to Cairo between 2011 and 2015 with the understanding that it would be closely monitored and it would serve American interests.”

        Read more: http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/05/egypt-us-military-aid.html#ixzz4eCV3GK7O

Life in the real world is a lot more complicated than it is in the comments section of the AVA. BTW, yes, I’ve been to Israel (from one end to the other), and I’ve been to a bunch of Gulf States, and worked with Egyptians, Jordanians, Iraqis, and others. If we’ve been pawns of anybody, it’s been the Saudis.

The amount of third-hand speculation and misinformation in this comment section is simply staggering. It wasn’t like this when I grew up in AV, back before satellite TV and Internet. There were lunatics, but they were looney about local stuff … stuff they knew, people they knew … not stuff half-way around the world they never even once laid their own eyes or hands on.

        Well, best to you,
        Chuck

Your well-used hasbara talking point (“Saudi Arabia, not Israel, controls the US”) is duly noted.

Amy Goodman trotted that one out again just this morning, as her acolytes all sang her happy birthday — how about that! And Trump uses EXACTLY the same line of BS!

          How can that be??

Well, as Jewish Joel Stein (then with the Jewish L.A.Times, now with the Jewish Time Magazine) put it:

“…I don’t care if Americans think we’re running the news media, Hollywood, Wall Street or the government. I just care that we get to keep running them.”
          — [ http://articles.latimes.com/2008/dec/19/opinion/oe-stein19 ]

Yes, every now & then you people can’t help but blurt out stuff like that.

Don’t you just HATE it when that happens?

          :-)

          • chuck becker April 14, 2017

            Dear Pat,

The difference, of course, is that I’ve traveled and worked in the Mideast, including Israel, and spent a good bit of time talking with working class locals and some government officials, as well. So when what people write is at odds with what I’ve seen with my own eyes and heard with my own ears, my eyes and ears win.

            You’ve traveled in the Mideast?

            Warm regards,
            Chuck

            • BB Grace April 14, 2017

I’m envious Mr. Becker, as I have never traveled to the ME. It remains a goal as the more I study the more I want to see and do, taste and feel, hear and smell beginning with the bookstores in Safed. I’m open to suggestions even though my list is very long. THANK YOU

              • chuck becker April 14, 2017

                BB Grace,

Well, the usual international travel things, and expect to spend at least a full day recovering from the flight, or more….

I would only go to the MidEast from mid-Nov through April, and preferably Dec-Mar. The summer heat is absolutely ferocious, and everywhere around the Gulf the humidity is just as bad.

Be aware that Ramadan may fall during that period, which just requires a bit of being conscious of how locals are acting. No eating or drinking in public from sunrise to sunset, conservative garb, etc. Iftar was my introduction to dozens of things I’d never had before, and a good way to gain weight during a monthlong fast.

The only countries I personally would avoid are Saudi Arabia (scary repressive) and Iran (under the current regime).

Shopping is a big thing to do, and I’ve always been treated with scrupulous fairness. Larger cities have separate souks for various commodities, especially gold.

I hope you have the chance to visit, there is a ton to see, and the sights and sounds will stay with you for a long time. With just one exception I found all of the many locals I dealt with to be very friendly. After traveling to over two dozen countries, my experience is that the people we hate are nameless, faceless strangers … that once we get to know each other “people are people.”

                With regards,
                Chuck

              Chuck the hasbara troll:

You people like to think that rhetorical question is a slam-dunk “Checkmate!”

But it’s just more silliness on your part. By your “reasoning” I should defer to anyone who’s spent considerable time in the Mideast — which would include millions of people who agree with you, and millions of people who don’t.

You’ve given us ZERO reason to trust anything you claim anyway.

I wish you people could conduct a rational debate — for example, convincingly refuting the MASSIVE PROFESSIONAL EVIDENCE that Israel did 9-11.

              …ISRAEL DID 9-11!!

You present false logic. You can believe anyone you want about anything you want. What I asked is whether you have any personal experience in the area on which to base your opinions. You don’t, so your opinion is exactly as valid as that of every other person who opines from ignorance.

If you have personal experience to back up your opinions, let’s talk about it.

                Chuck the hasbara troll:

Despite your amusing pomposity, my understanding of the Mideast comes from those who have PLENTY of 1st-hand experience in the Mideast:

              • Harvey Reading April 15, 2017

Chuck, it occurs to me that Ms. Grace and you are made for each other; just my opinion a course … you might at least be a gentleman and offer to be her guide if she travels to the Middle East. I am sure both of you would profit from the experience. As to your assertion of your supposed mastery of logic, it gave me a good laugh.

I have no control over where comments appear in the sequence, probably something that requires your level of logic to figure out.

            • Harvey Reading April 14, 2017

I’ve traveled to and worked with people in San Francisco. That hardly makes me an expert on that city.

              • chuck becker April 14, 2017

You made the same logic error as Pat.

Assume it’s you, and someone who’s never been to San Francisco. Assume that the two of you are otherwise comparable (in the absence of evidence to the contrary, the only reasonable assumption). All else being equal, which it is for most mortal humans, your advantage of personal experience means that your opinion is sounder because you will be able to personally attest to what you claim. Whereas the joker who learned everything he knows from the Internet will only be able to create a blizzard of increasingly pointless links.

The fact that you’ve been to San Francisco doesn’t make you and expert among experts, it simply makes you an expert among the utterly ignorant.

              • Harvey Reading April 14, 2017

No, Chuck, it doesn’t. Someone who had studied the history and customs of San Francisco, without ever having visited the city, would be far more knowledgeable regarding that city than me, probably better informed regarding it than many of its own residents. Visitors to a place generally hear and see what they want to hear and see. I’ve learned over the years to put most of the observations and “findings” of tourists or simple visitors to a place into the trash heap.

              • chuck becker April 14, 2017

I’m starting to understand the problem here. It must be too early in the day for your reading comprehension to kick in. Otherwise, how did you miss “All else being equal, which it is for most mortal humans” in my response. I’m assuming you must have missed that, as well as most of the rest of my post, for you to go off on a rant about apples and oranges.

Visitor or native, a person is either inclined to see the objective truth, or to see their subjective reality. Objectivity isn’t a coat that you have to check at the airport boarding gate. And there are many different types of visitors: immigrant, student/acadmic, executive, labor, tourist, artist/writer.

              • Pat Kittle April 14, 2017

                Harvey,

Well said. “Chuck” the hasbara troll is merely serving as a deflector anyway.

Notice how these pro-Israel types never refute the astonishing evidence that (for example) ISRAEL DID 9-11!!
                — [ https://wikispooks.com/wiki/9-11/Israel_did_it ]

They obviously know fully well Israel did 9-11 — their job is to distract us from fully, consciously comprehending the mind-boggling implications of that — such as the unending horrors of the bogus “War on Terrorism”!

Despite all the Israel lobby’s dirty tricks, the world is inevitably reaching a tipping point when Israel will be held accountable — and it has an incredible backlog of monstrous criminality for which it will be held accountable!

                Yes, it’s only a matter of time…
                :-)

                • chuck becker April 14, 2017

                  Pat,

So your strongest argument is a bald, puny ad hominem? That doesn’t bode well for the rest of your argument, which isn’t really an argument at all … just “more of the same.” But since your strongest argument is a logical fallacy, it’s easy to understand why you are having trouble following an actual logical argument that consists of even a single step of inference.

                  With regards,
                  Chuck

              • Pat Kittle April 14, 2017

Their role OBVIOUSLY is simply to distract us any way they can.

In doing so they are fully complicit in aiding-&-abetting all the resulting horrors.

When justice is finally served they will be held accountable, just as surely as they blame the janitor at Auschwitz.

              • chuck becker April 15, 2017

                Harvey,

Your last post (April 15, 2017 at 9:43 am) does not contain a single thought that is germane to the topic. It seems that having proved yourself unable to respond on topic, you’ve decided that it’s to your advantage to wander off into the weeds. Have a good time there, but don’t expect me to follow.

                Be well,
                Chuck

        • Harvey Reading April 15, 2017

Naw, Chuck, totally on topic. You’ve been gasbagging about your great personal, first-hand knowledge of the area not to mention your supposed great analytical ability with respect to logic, after all; so it seemed to me the decent thing for you to do is offer Ms. Grace the wonder of all your knowledge as a tour guide.

          • chuck becker April 15, 2017

            HarveyHarveyHarvey,

Totally on topic? Look at the top of the page: the topic is “Hexenhammer on Syrian Tomahawk Strikes.” Your last two posts have included zero references to the topic of this thread. It seems that, frustrated with your lack of impact discussing the topic, you insist on wandering even farther into the weeds. Good luck, and let me know what you find out there?

            Be well,
            Chuck

            • Harvey Reading April 15, 2017

Naw, you’re just gasbagging, as usual. Read the comments, all of them. Ms. Grace expressed interest in seeing the Middle East. You’re the supposed storehouse of first-hand knowledge of that part of world as well as a command of logic second-to-none … supposedly, or at least to read what you claim to be. So, logically …

You’re just playing games, and not very well at that.

              • BB Grace April 15, 2017

Thank you for calling me out on Moab being Saudi Arabia and not Afghanistan Mr. Reading.

                • chuck becker April 15, 2017

Moab is the ancient name for a region and a people of what is now Jordan, bordering the Dead Sea.

              • BB Grace April 16, 2017

I never had much interest in Moab until now thanks to Mr. Reading and Mr. Becker for their uniting in agreement where it’s located.

                Bozrah, is also called Petra?

                http://www.biblestudytools.com/commentaries/revelation/revelation-12/sheep-in-bozrah.html

How cool is a place carved out of rock? Who wouldn’t want to see that and touch the sands that’s touched millions of previous tourists?

Happy Easter (according to the link I think the last one to Moab is a rotten egg).

    Just because

    Comment from NC:

Why won’t the Syrian tar baby let us go? Some clues from Robin Wright:

Henry Kissinger made twenty-eight trips to Damascus—fourteen in a single month—to deal with the fallout from the 1973 Arab-Israeli War. He finally brokered an agreement with Assad, in 1974, to disengage Syrian and Israeli troops along the Golan Heights.

Jimmy Carter met Assad in Geneva, in 1977, to explore prospects for a U.S.-Soviet conference on Middle East peace. Assad was unyielding. He demanded the return of territory seized by Israel.

Tensions between Ronald Reagan and Assad turned openly hostile after Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon, where Syria had thousands of troops deployed.

Between 1993 and 1996, Secretary of State Warren Christopher made almost thirty trips to Damascus, to broker a deal on the Golan Heights.

In 2007, the C.I.A. corroborated Israeli intelligence that Syria, with North Korean blueprints and technicians, was building a secret nuclear reactor in the remote city of Deir Ezzor. Israeli warplanes attacked the site.

    http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-assad-family-nemesis-of-nine-u-s-presidents

It’s all about America’s squalid little nuclear-armed apartheid project on the Mediterranean, and the running sore of its illegal occupation and annexation of Syrian territory.

Of course, the New Yorker’s tendentious headline calling the Assad family “the nemesis of nine US presidents” assumes that everything must be this way. After all, The Lobby demands it.

But in reality, were the US to leave squabbling mideastern tribes (including the Israelis) to their own devices, Syria would be of no more import to America than Paraguay or Upper Volta.

    • Pat Kittle April 16, 2017

Is Robin Wright (author of that Israeli propaganda for the New Yorker) a Zionist Jew? It would be surprising if she’s not — virtually the “mainstream media” is.

Of course we’re trained to think the media if anything is “too White” — but take the Jews out of the media — or Hollywood, or Wall Street, or the Fed — and see how “White” they are. Seriously. These people are hustling us into another criminal war for their Precious Little Israel.

We hoped against hope that Trump was not in their pocket, as Hillary so clearly is. Sadly, American politics really is nothing more than the right-wing of the Zionist Party vs. the left-wing of the Zionist Party:
