Public Service Announcements

#542. The Vets from the Mendocino Animal Hospital visit February 2 at the AV Farm Supply in Philo from 2-4pm. Back again Thursday, February 22. Call ahead at 462-8833 and the vets will bring your pet’s charts with them.

#543. The AV Museum has reopened after the winter break. Open from 1-4pm on Saturday and Sunday in The Little Red Schoolhouse next to the Elementary School on AV Way, a perfect thing to do on a weekend afternoon. “The Best Little Museum in the West.”

#544. The AV Lending Library is closed, but will reopen on Saturday, March 10.

#545. No St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at the Apple Hall this year. That’s too bad. The 17th is a Saturday this year. Will anyone step up and do something special?

Community lunches and dinners next week in the Senior Center at the Veterans Building in Boonville. $6 donation from seniors for both lunches and dinners and $7 for Non-seniors for lunches and $8 for the dinners. Tomorrow, Thursday, February 22, the lunch, served by Marti Titus and her crew at Noon, will be “Breakfast for Lunch” followed by Cinnamon Roll cake. Next Tuesday, February 27, the evening meal at 6pm, features Chicken with Winter Vegetables & Pecan Bourbon cake for dessert. Include vegetables, salad bar, and fruit, plus milk, coffee, tea, and lemonade. ALL ages are welcome!

Valley events under discussion this week at The Three-Dot Lounge:

…The new March issue of the AV Community Bulletin will be distributed soon. Assisted by former producer Suzy Miller, Steve delivers the free Bulletin to over 20 “obvious” locations, from Yorkville to Navarro.

…It’s unfair to be negative about our very valuable Health Center but it’s enough to give you a migraine and seek medical help if you try to memorize the hotchpotch of hours that it currently operates under. To wit. Medical: M 9-6; Tu 10-5; W 9-5; Th 10-6; F 10-5 // Dental: M-W 8–5 pm; Th 9-6; F 8-6. I assume there are very good reasons for this but it’s probably best to just call 895-3477.

I’ve got to see a man about a sheep so I’m outta here. “Let us prey.” Humbly yours, Turkey Vulture. Contact me through the Letters Page or at turkeyvulture9@gmail.com.

PS. On the sheep, Grace. Keep on humming, Hummingbird. Missing the Venerable Pheasant.
